AFRICA BIO INITIATIVE (ABI) NETWORK
Welcome to the Africa Bio Initiative (ABI) Network, an initiative of the Sena Institute of Technology Foundation. The ABI is a continental strategy designed to accelerate biotechnology development and strengthen Africa’s bioeconomy as a driver of health security, agricultural transformation, environmental sustainability, and economic growth. Anchored within the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and aligned with the Africa CDC, AfCFTA, and WHO frameworks, the initiative seeks to harness Africa’s scientific talent, biodiversity, and innovation capacity to address urgent development challenges while positioning the continent as a competitive global player in biotechnology.
This collaborative platform is dedicated to advancing biotechnology innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in Ghana and across Africa. ABI connects scientists, industry leaders, investors, and policy-makers from Africa and the global biotech ecosystem to foster partnerships, share knowledge, and catalyze solutions for health, agriculture, and environmental challenges. Through networking events, training programs, and collaborative projects, ABI empowers African bioscientists and innovators to shape the continent’s bioeconomy and strengthen its role in the global life sciences sector.
Our mission is to build and strengthen biotechnology capacity throughout the continent by fostering partnerships with biotech hubs, philanthropists, investors and biotechnology firms. Through these collaborations, the Network supports professional exchange programs, offers consulting services, and provides Contract Research Organization (CRO) solutions.
Why Now?
Africa’s biotechnology sector is on the rise. But sustainable growth depends on global partnerships, resource mobilization, and platforms that unite diverse voices. ABI is designed to fill this gap, catalyzing ideas and accelerating innovation that will impact the continent and beyond.
